Our story

Established in 2020 to provide luxury buyers with a socially responsible alternative to furnishing
their home, Wood Mongers specialises in creating high-quality, custom-crafted, luxury hardwood
furniture with a conscience.

Our story began with a question: how can we help solve the problem of rising youth unemployment
while creating a product that does not add to the very pressing environmental concerns the world
is facing. Our answer was twofold. Firstly, we would partner with local craftsmen in South Africa,
Zimbabwe, and other African communities; manufacturing all our bespoke items in Cape Town as a
way to create economic opportunity and empowerment within our local communities.

Secondly, we would source all our wood from naturally fallen trees as a way to minimize our
environmental impact. Although other high-end woods are available on request, most of our wood
comes from within the African continent, including: Iroko (West Africa), Wenge (Congo), Yellow Wood
(SA), Teak (Zimbabwe), Red Gum (SA).

Crafted out of naturally sourced wood, each piece is truly unique; which is reflective of the customer
who buys them. Our consultants work closely alongside our customers to ensure that their purchase
is the perfect fit. Our aim is to create furniture that becomes a conversation piece, allowing you the
opportunity to bring a true touch of luxury into your home.
